TikTok gives you an 80 character bio, a short name and a quick caption, which is not much room for style. These fonts for TikTok are made for those tiny spaces, with styles that look good without crowding out your words.
In a space that small, a heavy style can crowd out the words that matter. We built this guide around that limit, so your profile looks styled and still tells people what your videos are about.
How Fonts for TikTok Work
Fonts for TikTok are Unicode characters that look like bold, script or framed letters, such as 𝐟𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐰 𝐦𝐞 or ✧・゚follow me・゚✧. TikTok treats them as normal text, which is why they keep their look on every phone that opens your profile.
TikTok also has its own fonts for text you put on top of a video. Those are separate, and the styles on this page are for your bio, name, captions and comments.
Where Styled Fonts Work on TikTok
Each part of a TikTok profile has its own limit and rules. Here is what we found when we set up profiles with these styles.
Bio
Your bio holds 80 characters, and styled letters and symbols count toward it. One styled phrase plus a few plain words about your content usually fills it well.
Display Name
Your name can be up to 30 characters and accepts most styles. TikTok lets you change it once every 7 days, which gives you a chance to try something new each week.
Username
Your @username is strict. It takes only letters, numbers, underscores and periods, and you can change it once every 30 days, so styled letters will not work there.
Captions and Comments
Captions and comments accept styled text. Keep your hashtags plain, though, because a styled hashtag does not link to the tag and will not help people find your video.
How Do You Add a Styled Font to Your TikTok Bio?
The steps are the same on iPhone and Android:
- Write a Short Line: Type your bio phrase in the Your text box and keep it well under 80 characters.
- Browse Aesthetic Styles: Tap Aesthetic styles for sparkles, moons and soft frames that suit most TikTok profiles.
- Copy Your Choice: Tap Copy under the card you like best.
- Open Edit Profile: In TikTok, go to your Profile tab, tap Edit profile, and then tap Bio.
- Paste and Check the Count: Paste the text, look at the counter in the corner, and save it once it fits.
The Styles That Fit 80 Characters Best
Symbol frames are the most efficient choice for a short bio. A frame like ☽follow me☾ adds only two symbols, while your words stay plain and easy to read.
Bold and small caps are good for one key word, like your niche or your name. Fully styled bios can feel crowded on a small screen, and they hide what your account is about.
We avoid the combining styles, like Strikethrough and Underline, in TikTok bios. They add an extra mark after every letter, which eats through 80 characters very quickly.
Styled Text in TikTok Video Overlays
TikTok’s text tool for videos has its own fonts, like Classic, Typewriter, Handwriting, Neon and Serif. If you paste styled text into that tool, the special letters keep their shape inside whichever TikTok font you pick.
That combination can look great for a short title on screen. We keep overlays to a few words, though, because viewers only see each one for a moment while the video plays.
How Should You Style TikTok Captions?
The first line of a caption shows under your video before people tap to see more. A short styled hook there can grab attention, as long as the topic words stay plain for search.
We like styling a series name, like ★Part 2★, and writing everything else normally. It helps viewers spot your series as they scroll, and it keeps your captions searchable.
How Should You Style Your TikTok Profile?
Start with a simple frame around one bio phrase and a plain username. If you post the same content on Instagram, our Fonts for Instagram page covers its 150 character bio and name rules.
