WhatsApp can make text bold or italic in a chat, but it cannot give your About or your name a script or framed look. These fonts for WhatsApp fill that gap with styles you can paste into your profile, groups and messages.

WhatsApp already has a few built-in formatting tricks, and they still have a place. We explain when to use them, when to use styled text instead, and how to mix the two.

The Formatting WhatsApp Already Has

WhatsApp formats text when you wrap it in special marks. Here are the ones that work in chats:

  • Bold: Put an asterisk on both sides, like *hello*.
  • Italic: Put an underscore on both sides, like _hello_.
  • Strikethrough: Put a tilde on both sides, like ~hello~.
  • Monospace: Put three backticks on both sides of the text.
  • Quotes and Lists: Start a line with a greater than sign for a quote, or with a dash and a space for a bulleted list.

These marks work only inside chats, though. They do nothing in your name or your About, and they cannot give you script, gothic or framed letters.

How Stylish Fonts for WhatsApp Work

Stylish fonts from this page are Unicode characters that look like a different typeface, such as 𝓰𝓸𝓸𝓭 𝓿𝓲𝓫𝓮𝓼 or ɢᴏᴏᴅ ᴠɪʙᴇꜱ. WhatsApp treats them as normal text, which means they work in places where its own formatting marks do not.

They also keep their look when someone forwards your message. The person on the other end sees the same characters, drawn by their own phone.

Where Stylish Text Works on WhatsApp

Styled text works almost everywhere in WhatsApp. Here is what we found in each spot.

Your Name

Your profile name holds 25 characters and accepts most styles and symbols. A short name in a simple frame, like ♡good vibes♡, shows clearly in chat lists and group member lists.

Your About

The About line under your name holds 139 characters. It is the best place for a styled phrase, because people read it when they open your profile.

Group Names and Descriptions

Group names and descriptions accept styled text too. A styled group name stands out in a long chat list, which helps when you are in many groups.

Chats and Status

You can paste styled text into any message or text status. For long messages, we still suggest WhatsApp’s own bold and italic, since they are easier to read and work better with screen readers.

How Do You Put a Stylish Font in Your WhatsApp About?

Changing your About takes under a minute:

  1. Type Your About Line: Enter the phrase in the Your text box, keeping it short enough to read at a glance.
  2. Compare a Few Styles: Tap Social styles for hearts, stars and soft frames, or Letter styles for script and small caps.
  3. Copy the One You Like: Tap Copy under that card, and the styled text goes to your clipboard.
  4. Open Your Profile: In WhatsApp, go to Settings, tap your name at the top, and then tap About.
  5. Paste and Save: Delete the old text, paste the new line, and tap Save to apply it.

When Should You Use WhatsApp Formatting Instead?

Use WhatsApp’s own marks for normal chats. They are quick to type, everyone sees them correctly, and screen readers read the words normally.

Styled text is better for the parts of your profile that stay the same for a while. A styled About, name or group title gives you a personal look that WhatsApp’s marks simply cannot create.

You can mix both in one message too. A styled heading like ★good vibes★ at the top, with plain or bold chat text below, works well for party invites and group updates.

WhatsApp’s chat search looks for the plain letters you type. If you write a message in styled letters, searching for those words later will not find it.

This matters for anything you may need again, like an address, a booking time or a plan for the weekend. We keep those messages plain, and save styled text for greetings, group names and your profile.

What Should You Change First on WhatsApp?

Try a small caps or script phrase in your About and a simple frame around your name. If you share the same posts on Facebook, our Fonts for Facebook page covers what works there.
